G321 Questionnaire Results

For these questions we asked we found out that the males and females prefer modern day thrillers with a lot of ambiguity for the storyline structure. This helps us think of a plot line more clearly for our thriller, as we would feature ambiguity mainly form our feedback and more of a modern day thriller instead of a classic. The females prefer to watch the films in the cinema which gives us an idea on our distribution as the males don’t mind where they watch it (home or cinema).

Males favourite aspect of thriller was action, this gives us a rough idea of a target audience for an action thriller, showing we would get more good feedback and a wider audience if we featured action. Action is often stereotyped with men, this seems true as we asked 20 males and the highest said that action was there preferred and storyline second, which we would have to concentrate very hard on if males were our preferred audience. Females on the other hand preferred violence and suspense and action the least, this gave us an idea so far that females prefer colour and more violence and suspense, as males seem an easier audience to please as they don’t mind as much with the other questions we asked.

Females preferred the time slot of 90-120 more than the males showing if our target audience was females this would be our preferred time for the thriller. Males didn’t mind as much but also females didn’t , which shows that it wouldn’t really depend on what time length we had so we will bear these in mind too have a 90-120 length film as females prefer it and males don’t mind as much.

This was quite an easy questions for the males as there weren’t specific and didn't mind what type if colour the film was, as we see that it appealed for women. The women preferred colour which shows when producing our thriller we should shoot in colour as we could target women as a wider audience, but will have to take the genre in mind and see the results form that.

This Questionnaire was handed out by us to 40 people, 10 females under 20 and 10 males under 20, 10 males over 20 and 10 males over 20. This gave us a clear idea on what men and women were interested in films, like colour, actors etc. From these results we found it easier to create a target audience for our film and we now are deciding between the results what to do. We gave these out in our common room and around the city.
